FEROZEPUR, May 20:
In
a major breakthrough amidst the ongoing drive to make Punjab a safe and secure
state, Ferozepur Police, in two separate intelligence-based operations, has
busted a major narco-smuggling networks with the arrest of three key operatives
involved in drug trafficking activities and recovered 10.125 Kg Heroin, 2 Kg
Ice (Methamphetamine), and one .30 bore Turkiye from their possession, said
Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav here on Wednesday.
Those
arrested have been identified as Om alias Omi (23), a resident of village Leli
Wala in Ferozepur; Aniket Kumar (22) and Sumit (23), both residents of Shanti
Nagar Ferozepur. Apart from recovering contraband, police teams have also
impounded their Hero Splendor motorcycle, bearing registration number PB 05 U
9776.
DGP
Gaurav Yadav said that preliminary investigation has revealed the involvement
of an organised drug supply chain in both the networks. Police teams are
working to establish backward and forward linkages in this case to identify the
source, destination, and other members of both the networks, he said.
Sharing
operational details of first operation, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP)
Ferozepur Bhupinder Singh Sidhu said that a team led by Incharge CIA Staff
Inspector Mohit Dhawan, acting on a reliable input, intercepted Om alias Omi
near a brick kiln on the Khai Feme Ke to village Habib Ke road and during
search a massive consignment of 10.125 kg Heroin recovered from his possession.
In
the second operation, the SSP said that a team led by SHO Police Station Arif
Ke Inspector Balraj Singh received a reliable input that individuals identified
as Aniket Kumar and Sumit Kumar, who deal in synthetic drugs and illegal
weapons, were heading from Mallanwala side toward the Ferozepur road on a
motorcycle to deliver the drug consignment to some party. Acting swiftly on the
inputs, the police team intercepted the duo and recovered 2 kg ICE drug and one
.30 bore Turkiye pistol from their possession, he said.
He
said that further investigation is ongoing, and more arrests and recoveries are
likely in coming days.
In
this regard, two separate cases— FIR No. 183 dated 19.05.2026 under sections 21
of the NDPS Act at Police Station Sadar Ferozepur and FIR No. 62 dated
19.05.2026 under section 22-C of the NDPS Act and section 25 of the Arms Act at
Police Station Arif Ke— have been registered.
